Title Counting Down
Fandom Harry Potter
Pairings Sirius Black/Remus Lupin
Rating/warnings PGish. Angst. Mention of suicide ideation
Word count 2312

‘The moon, the war...’Collapse )

Fic: Fight Our Own Shadows

Title Fight Our Own Shadows
Fandom Doctor Who (2005-present), elements of Eighth Doctor Adventures & Faction Paradox
Pairings Gen
Rating/warnings PG for scary stuff and scarring.
Spoilers AUish, picking up sometime after The Name of the Doctor. Doesn’t assume any previous knowledge of Faction Paradox.
Words 8037
Summary Something worse than a nightmare haunts Clara’s sleeping mind.
Author’s notes The Clara arc and Faction Paradox felt like such an obvious connection that I simply had to write it. Inspired by this edit by kelleycarries of Tumblr. I’m primarily using the EDA version of Faction Paradox in this, rather than the spin-off stuff, and at some points, I’ve played around with the canon (but hey, it’s Faction Paradox - that’s what it’s all about). Title from this lovely quote from Owen Meredith’s poem Lucile: “Alas! must it ever be so? / Do we stand in our own light, wherever we go, / And fight our own shadows forever?” (II.II.5) Betaed by laughinggas13.

The dream started before Clara was completely asleep.Collapse )

Fic: Unbearable

Title Unbearable
Fandom Star Trek: The Original Series
Pairing Kirk/Spock, sort of Kirk/katra!McCoy
Rating/warnings NC-17. Brief mention of suicidal thoughts.
Spoilers The Search for Spock
Words 2067
Summary As McCoy struggles with holding Spock’s katra, he finds himself stuck in the middle of a relationship between his best friend and a dead man.
Author’s notes Originally written back in 2009, for the following prompt (for which I've lost the URL) on st_tos_kink: "I'd love to see fic dealing with Bones holding Spock's Katra. I want Jim completely irrational with jealousy, and somehow, someway, Bones gaining intimate knowledge of Kirk and Spock, and maybe the aftermath of that, maybe the bittersweet moment when Spock remembers Jim..." Reposted from my old journal, with some minor changes.

There had been changes in McCoy's mind before it broke loose in full - thoughts and memories that were obviously not his.Collapse )

Fic: Nostalgia

Title Nostalgia
Fandom Doctor Who: Eighth Doctor Adventures
Pairings None - gen.
Rating/warnings G.
Word-count 927
Summary The Doctor takes Miranda stargazing, and thinks of home.
Author's notes I went to look at the Perseid meteor shower, and was inspired to write something.

The past ninety years, the Doctor had always stargazed alone.Collapse )

Fic: An Unearthly Guest 2/2

Title An Unearthly Guest 2/2
Fandom Doctor Who (2005-present), Doctor Who: Eighth Doctor Adventures
Pairings Madame Vastra/Jenny Flint, implied Eighth Doctor/Fitz Kreiner
Rating/warnings PG
Spoilers None. Set after The Ancestor Cell, and at some unspecified point in the Paternoster Gang’s timeline.
Word count 14 430
Beta laughinggas13 (thanks!)
Disclaimer I don’t own anything at all.
Summary When Jenny finds an alien stranger outside the house at Paternoster Row, she and Madame Vastra follow instructions the Doctor has given them months in advance: “Take him in. Take care of him. Don’t get anyone else involved.” But the mysterious guest’s stay only leads to more questions. What has made him lose his memory? Why have they been told to keep the existence of alien life from an alien being? And how come the nameless guest reminds Jenny of the Doctor, when he looks nothing like him?
Author’s notes I had tons of fun writing this. This is not actually a multi-parter, but Livejournal won’t let me post it in one entry. If you prefer to read the whole thing in one place, you can found it here at AO3.

Part one can be found here.
